EP11 - Rollerdrome for Gogz
Welcome back to the latest episode of "I play the games, so you don't have to." This time around, we were taking a wild ride with Rollerdrome, a game that was recommended by the one and only Gogz. Strap in as we blend quad-skating thrills with high-octane gunplay!
Initial Impressions
Rollerdrome immediately grabs your attention with its unique combination of gameplay mechanics reminiscent of Tony Hawk's Skater series and exhilarating gunplay. The first two hours were a whirlwind of learning controls, mastering the moves. It was a lot of fun from the outset, and I really enjoyed it.
Gameplay
The game seamlessly blends quad-skating tricks with shooting, offering a fresh, adrenaline-pumping experience. The initial levels do a great job of introducing the game's core mechanics, giving you enough info to realise you're going to require some serious skills to progress.
The game's aesthetic is a standout, with vibrant visuals and a soundtrack that perfectly complements the high-speed action.
Highlights
The main challenge so far has been getting to grips with the controls, learning the tricks, and mastering the gunplay.(which is extremely satisfying!) Balancing the quad-skating tricks with strategic shooting is tougher than it looks, making for an engaging and rewarding challenge.
Progression
While I haven't progressed to the quarterfinals yet, the learning curve is enjoyable. Each level brought a better understanding of how to meld skating and shooting, and as with any game similar to this, revisiting the earlier levels with new found skills led to higher scores.
Final Thoughts
Rollerdrome feels like a game that will beckon me back, not just for its innovative gameplay, but also for the sheer fun of mastering its challenges. It's the perfect pick for a chill gaming session when you have some time to spare. I'm looking forward to diving back in and hopefully making it to those elusive quarterfinals.
Special Thanks
A huge shoutout to Gogz for suggesting "Rollerdrome." Your choice of games so far have been on point, and this recommendation was spot on. Thanks for being part of the journey and for bringing this gem to my attention!
